During the Trojan War the Greek army constructed a huge hollow wooden horse and pretended to give it as a gift to the citizens of Troy. They hid inside of it and once it had been brought into the city they jumped out and attacked. A “Trojan Horse” is used as a metaphor for causing the downfall of an enemy by doing something sneaky to fool them.
