Aladdin is a character in an ancient Middle Eastern folk tale (originally found in The Arabian Nights). In the story, a young impoverished boy is manipulated by an evil sorcerer named Mustapha (who claims to be his father’s brother) to retrieve an oil lamp in a cave. When things do not go according to plan, the many misadventures of Aladdin begin.
